Facing the closure of exhibition spaces and the uncertainty regarding their reopening or the health restrictions that will have to be adopted, dissemination on virtual platforms has grown more important, even though it has involved simply putting works online. New York artist and author Magali Duzant takes the pulse of the issues that have arisen in the past year in an article published in the web periodical LensCulture. She writes about the best efforts and reflects on ways to adapt, as photographers, to virtual forms of exhibiting. There’s no question of denying reality: online display must be integrated into practices, she believes. “One can still see art and experience [virtual content] where beauty, information, and concept meet,” she concludes. “But it would be a shame to think of them solely in this light; now more than ever the future and the present of online exhibitions looks bright.”
