Welcome to the Dreamhouse was an invitation to become immersed in the playful world of Skawennati, a major figure in contemporary media arts. Since the early 2000s, Skawennati, a Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) artist and teacher, has conducted her experimentation and futurist speculation in cyberspace, drawing her inspiration from science fiction, pop culture, and Hotinonshón:ni stories. She imagines alternative temporalities for First Peoples, probes the relationship between humans and technologies, and plays a major role in the expansion and influence of Indigenous futurism.

Julie Graff is an independent researcher, cultural worker, and curator based in Ottawa and Montreal. She holds a PhD in art history and social anthropology and is interested in the decolonization of museums in Canada. Since 2022, she has been the artistic director of Maison MONA, a nonprofit organization devoted to highlighting public art and heritage.
