During summer 2022, Concordia University’s Faculty of Fine Arts Gallery turned outward to the street. Ten large and arresting black-and-white portraits were displayed in the gallery’s windows. What stood out at first glance was the diversity of people portrayed. It was obvious, given their poses, clothing, and facial features, that the subjects photographed do not share the same living conditions. But here, all the portraits were side by side and in a position of equality, at eye level…
