In his exhibition Somme toute, Yan Giguère presented twelve photographic assemblages from his eponymous project of fourteen “stations” – Giguère’s word for them – which totalled 242 analogue images. Their composition and form of installation testified to his renewed attention to the photographic object and its narrative potential. A sheet of paper at the entrance to the gallery offered much technical information, from types of cameras (including instant cameras)
to film formats to developer brands. These data attest not only to his deep knowledge of and relationship with the medium but also to the nostalgia with which the project is imbued.

With diplomas in art history from the Université de Montréal and in curatorial studies from the University of Toronto, Charlotte Lalou Rousseau is interested in the reconciliation between content and form. As an independent curator, she organized Emma Waltraud Howes’s exhibition The Time it Takes (Musée d’art de Joliette, 2024). She has published articles in the magazines Le Sabord, Ciel variable, Esse, and Spirale. She combines her curating, criticism, and writing practices as she pursues a master’s degree in translation.
