The exhibition Laboratories/Observatories comprises large bodies of work by two contemporary photographers: the late American/Canadian Lynne Cohen (1944– 2014) and the French Marina Gadonneix (born 1977). Cohen’s contribution consists primarily of work done in the first two decades of her career, from the mid-1970s to the mid-1990s, whereas Gadonneix is represented with work from the last fifteen years. Much of Cohen’s earlier work is intimate in scale and in black and white; she shifted to colour and museum-scale work in the late 1990s. Over the last four decades, her photographs have been consistently exhibited in European galleries and museums, particularly in France and Spain, and this Paris exhibition with Gadonneix, a mid-career artist, will certainly contribute to expanding her impact…
