Documentary photography has neither physical borders nor subject limitations. Though vast and varied, it is based on a single raw material: encounter. Camera in tow – and no doubt not just a single camera and lens – documentary photographers do much more than document. Their stories are the product of an iron will, great patience, and sensitivity to everything that lives and breathes. New bodies of work will regularly enhance and broaden this look at current documentary practices.
