The thematic feature of this issue, entitled Tableaux, brings together works by Donigan Cumming, Jeff Wall, and Luc Delahaye, who explore contemporary social issues through the lens of the photographic tableau. Whether through scenes captured within the confined space of a parking booth in Cumming’s work, Wall’s rigorous and carefully constructed compositions, or Delahaye’s very large-format images, their practices highlight the relationships between staging, framing, and narrative in contemporary photography.
